Workshops to raise awareness about our environment
After devoting fifteen years to fundamental research—in the field of astronomy as applied to ancient Egypt—and then fifteen years to documenting, through photographs, photographisms, and 2D or 3D animations, the formation and evolution of our Earth in the Universe and Life on Earth—up to the Anthropocene, the time has come for me to devote myself to protecting our environment and the living beings that animate and transform it. Because the need is urgent. To this end, several initiatives were launched as early as the summer of 2026: the design and leadership of workshops focused on biodiversity for all audiences, the involvement in roundtable discussions on the definition and implementation of local pro-environmental policies, etc.
September 19, 2026: Handisports Discovery Day in a Natural Setting (Lake Saint-Ferréol, Occitanie)
In partnership with the Revel City Hall, the Departmental Handisport 31 Committee is organizing a day of introduction to adaptive sports in a natural setting (adaptive cycling and hiking) on September 19, 2026, on the shores of Lake Saint-Ferréol. This project focuses particularly on the inclusion of people with disabilities, as well as on raising awareness about the environment and eco-citizenship.
To this end, two environmental organizations are involved: the LPO (League for the Protection of Birds, the official representative of BirdLife International in France) and Vert Ici. LPO volunteers will run a stand presenting the Biodiv'Sports initiative, which aims to combine sports activities with the preservation of wildlife in natural habitats, as well as a game focused on mountain sports and threats to biodiversity. As part of the Revel-based organization Vert Ici, I will lead—along with two other volunteers—a workshop introducing and exploring participatory science.
September 8, 2026: Contribution to the Development Council of the Pays Lauragais PETR (Occitanie)
The Development Council (DevCo) of the PETR (Pôle d'Equilibre Territorial et Rural) of the Pays Lauragais is a forum for exchange, dialogue, and reflection open to local stakeholders (residents, businesses, organizations, and local partners) from various sectors: economic (agricultural, industrial, artisanal, and service sectors), nonprofit, scientific, cultural, health and social services, environmental, sports, education, communications, etc.
Organized into committees, working groups, and plenary sessions, DevCo members gather information, reflect, debate, and freely and collectively develop their recommendations. They provide insight and expertise on the major policy directions pursued by the Pays Lauragais PETR in the areas of the environment and climate, urban planning, culture, tourism, and more.
After contributing to the revision of the Territorial Coherence Plan (SCoT)—which serves as the Air, Energy, and Climate Plan for the Pays Lauragais PETR—during the summer of 2026, it seemed natural to me to commit to serving, as a scientist and entrepreneur and as a member of the Revel-based association Vert Ici and the LPO (League for the Protection of Birds, BirdLife international), within the Development Council (DevCo) of the Pays Lauragais PETR.
The first meeting (and introductory session) took place on September 8 at the PETR offices in Montferrand (Aude, Occitanie). About twenty people of different ages and profiles were in attendance, all of whom are involved in community activities in our territory.
July 3 - September 4, 2026: Contribution to the revision of the SCoT for the Pays Lauragais (Occitanie, France)
The environment in which we live is a crucial component of our well-being. The resources that make up this environment—the soil, air, and water—as well as the wildlife that inhabits it, are under numerous pressures caused by human activity (including agriculture, industry, urban development, and tourism), compounded by the devastating effects of ongoing climate change: heat waves, droughts, floods, and soil erosion.
How can we adapt our territory to current and future climate change? How can we balance human activities with the preservation of soil, water resources, and biodiversity by 2050? These were some of the questions raised during the revision of the Territorial Coherence Plan (SCoT), which serves as the Air, Energy, and Climate Plan for the PETR (Pôle d'Equilibre Territorial et Rural) of the Pays Lauragais (*). Local residents were invited to share their expertise and insights on these issues during the summer of 2026.

Several members of the Revel-based association Vert Ici gathered for a workshop to address the issues raised by the revision of the SCoT. Personally, I focused on issues related to biodiversity: restoring soil structure, protecting water resources, preserving wildlife in built-up areas, mapping ecological corridors, and balancing renewable energy production with biodiversity conservation. June 6, 2026: Participation in the « Les nuits des forêts » festival (Montagne Noire, Occitanie, France)
The Festival Committee of the City of Revel, in partnership with the Museum of Wood and the Hiking Club, organized a series of workshops on June 6, 2026, on the theme of biodiversity in the Managed Biological Reserve of l’Aiguille (Communal Forest of Les Cammazes, Montagne Noire, Occitanie, France). This event was part of the 6th edition of the « Les nuits des forêts » festival, which aims to « promote new balances between humans and the natural world at the local level, and to foster the emergence of new collective narratives ». In this context, I led a workshop on nature photography and citizen science. Together, we explored the Montagne Noire and its inhabitants!
