Exhibition « Abstractions »

Introduction

For its fifth participation in the Regards de Photographes exhibition organized each year by the City Hall of Revel, the Culture Diff' company chose to tackle the environmental issue.

In order to limit the carbon footprint caused by the journeys required for this photographic activity, each of the images on display was taken not far from the town of Revel, on the shores of Lake Saint Ferréol at the intersection of the Haute-Garonne, Tarn and Aude departments. An area regularly frequented by the people of Revel in particular, as well as Occitan residents and visiting tourists. How, then, can we arouse public interest in photographs taken in a highly-visited area? By offering an unprecedented view of this area... By exhibiting a number of shots taken using techniques borrowed from abstract photography, for example - i.e. sensor movement, changes in perspective, play of light, etc. during the shooting process.

The three photographs that make up this exhibition offer a different perspective on the shores of Lake Saint Ferréol. They are entitled « Green City », « Winter in Summer » and « CO2 stripes ». They also illustrate :

• environmental realities: trees as carbon sinks (*),
• the risks posed to the biosphere by human activities, such as the whitening of tree leaves due to acid rain (*),
• the possibility of adapting to current and future climate change by greening urban centers (*).

Last but not least, the printing of each photograph is part of an eco-responsible process.
