A giant with a foot of granite

Imagine a block of granite weighing about 800 tonnes and resting on an offset bedrock of rather modest proportions, similar, in terms of form, to the paw of an elephant. Be confident in the stability of this natural building - its modern name, Peyro Clabado, issued from the Occitan words Pèira Clavelada, literally « nailed stone », should help.

Come and immerse yourself in the heart of this stone building. With one look, you will seize the beauty, the wealth of this mountainous enclave located in the highlands of Oc, between the Monts Lacaune on the one hand, the Montagne Noire on the other hand. An enclave called Sidobre, characterized by curious arrangements of granite blocks (overlays, juxtapositions, chaos, waterfalls, rock shelters, etc.) and a wide variety of plants (oaks, chestnuts, beechs, birchs, Scots pines, spruces, etc). Water is the third key element of the Sidobre. In the form of rains, lakes and rivers - for some underground, it shapes even today this granite island, this land of legends.
