Live and Become

All were born simultaneously,
of a single parent tree.

All bear similar contours,
ordinary proportions and texture.

Each late fall however reappears
this somptuous gradation of tones :

shades of yellow-orange, of green,
of red, which testify their degrees
of exposure to the earliest frosts.

A fraternity source of notable disparities
that the slightest storm will soon sweep,
thus restoring the famous principle of equity.
