Bras de mer

In summer, the plains of the Lauragais region (Occitanie) are covered in the characteristic golden yellow of sunflowers.

Due to global warming, sea levels have already risen by 25 cm (on a global scale) since the beginning of the 20th century. What will happen in a few decades' time? Will the current landscape be partly submerged by rising waters?

Using image processing algorithms, let's imagine the possible evolution of this landscape under the dual effect of rising sea levels and coastal erosion. In time, will a bay, an arm of the sea as depicted in this photographism, replace the present sunflower field?
