Magma Ocean

Fiery, impetuous, burning,
such was our teenage Earth.
A planet covered by molten magma
from which emerged, here and there, a few cratons,
the beginnings of continents in formation.

Ardent, dizzying, alive,
such was this volcanic caldera.
The lair of these giants that once dotted
the Pyrenean chain. That was in the Permian,
almost 250 million years ago.

Ardent, tumultuous, radiant,
such appeared this celestial vastness.
Fraction of the Earth's atmosphere
waving on the surface of the horizon
and reflecting the glow of sunset.
