Thanks to spring showers,
the young plants of sunflowers
push their way to the glow.

Promptly, they rise vertically,
whirling from east to west
towards the daily luminary.

Once they reach maturity,
they stop facing the Levant,
diverting for ever from the Pyrenees.

And bending under the weight of their seeds,
their capitulum plunges towards the soil,
waiting to be scattered by the breeze.
