The heliacal rise of Sirius
The heliacal rise of Sirius
This 3D view is a simulation of the heliacal rising of the star Sirius over the Lake Salagou in Herault (Occitanie region, southern France) at the end of August 2022: shortly after appearing in the southeast corner of the sky, the star will disappear again, hidden in the glow of the rising Sun.
Move the cursor sideways to see the effects of light pollution on the contours of the landscape.
This simulation was carried out using the WebWorldWind interface developed by the NASA/ESA consortium and distributed under the Apache 2.0 license.
